Are you protecting you underground propane tank from corrosion?

Let’s face it, tanks are expensive.  And in order for them to last a long time, propane tanks and metallic piping need protection . . . Cathodic Protection.  Corrosion can be defined as a disease of steel. Coating the steel tank is the first line of defense against corrosion however Cathodic Protection will make a steel propane tank and its piping immune to the disease of corrosion.

APS installs a connected Magnesium Anode Bag with every underground tank that will provide a current and electrons to the entire surface, which will actually prevent the iron atoms in the steel from oxidizing into rust.  And if enough electrons continuously flow from an anode to the tank, it will not corrode!

The bag should be changed every 5-7 years to make sure there is no loss of current and electrons.  If your tank is older than 5-7 years, call APS and we will come out and replace the bag typically, in less than an hour!
