We have become oddly familiar with the possibility of a hurricane or other natural event that can, for a short period of time, knock out power to an area and leave us without electricity for several days to a week or more. But what only a few have thought about (at least until recently), is how vulnerable our power grid is to sabotage in the form of cyber-attacks or even physical attacks that can knock out electricity for extended periods of time. The recent cyber-attacks on our oil pipeline and the recent war in Ukraine have brought to the forefront just how susceptible our main source of power is. Governments can only do so much, and at some point, we must think about other methods such as standby generators that can help keep your family safe and secure until the energy supply disruption is restored.
